1 Functional evaluation
The functional evaluation is aimed at appraising the severity of your biomechanical condition and your functional limitations. The orthotist or prosthetist works in close collaboration with your doctor, together they work to guide you in selecting the best orthopedic device for your needs. This close collaboration will ensure you get the best results.
During the last few years, orthotic technology and methods of evaluation have improved significantly, greatly advancing the field of orthotics. The orthotists and prosthetists at LABORATOIRE LANGELIER LANOUE can now literally mould
to your needs and your personal activity profile, taking into account your work, leasure and athletic activities. They can offer ideal solutions that best fit your life situation. A proper foot device well designed and constructed with care constitutes your best step towards rehabilitation.
2 Measurement and moulding on plaster
The orthotist-prosthetist takes the necessary measurements in order to adjust your orthopedic device perfectly. The degree of care taking in that step could make the whole difference, even the smallest detail is very important. When he fabricates a custom orthotic, the orthotist molds, with plaster strips, the part of the body that needs to pair up, and then forms a mould. He must reproduce exactly the plaster on that part of the body, which will allow to avoid injuries or useless frictions when wearing the device.
3 The orthotic design
The LABORATOIRE LANGELIER-LANOUE orthotists-prosthetists are professionals who receive training on ongoing basis. They are knowledgable in the use of new materials and devices. Thus, they are perfectly equipped to recommend a number of solutions for each situation.
After evaluating your physical condition and setting treatment objectives, the orthotist-prosthetist designs the device best suited to your needs, paying close attention to details. Its the details that make the whole difference. To maximize orthopedic efficiency, he will use additional or padded elements to lighten the orthotic for better comfort and optimal use in everyday life.
4 Fabrication in the laboratory
There are a large number of devices on the market. The orthotist-prothetist must know the characteristics of each one to be able to use that knowledge in the laboratory.
In more severe cases, we fabricate a custom negative of the measurement by creating a unique mould. This mould is then sent to our workshops with details of the fabrication and objectives to reach. It is important to be very meticulous at that stage.
The workshop mechanics priority is to offer you the best biomechanical balance with the best possible comfort. Given the unpleasant circumstances you often face, we approach this task with the uttermost importance. Our workshops are next to the clinicians office, this allows us to maintain a very close collaboration between orthotists-prosthetists and mechanics.
