Orthopedic shoe (modified serial shoe)
The orthopedic shoe is a commercial prefabricated or extra-depth shoe, altered or modified to correct the walking function.
Our laboratories keep a large selection of shoes in their inventory. Our technician team has been specially trained to insure that you receive a perfect adjustment. In our workshops, we have all the necessary equipment to properly modify a commercial shoe.
Using the prescription, the orthotist identifies the precise modifications that need to be made to the shoe. A specialized technician adjusts the shoes perfectly, according to the orthotists instructions. Next, the shoes are sent to the workshop where shoemakers and mechanics modify the shoes according to specific requirements. To optimize the quality of the results, these procedures are done in close collaboration with physicians.
Here are the most current modifications:
Modification of the insole and bevelling for rebalancing
Elevation in case of uneven lower limbs
Splaying or heightening the heel
Increasing the support surface by splaying the heel and the insole
Repair and alteration services to prolong the life of the orthopedic shoe
Placing a metatarsal support to prevent the collapse of the metatarsal heads and the formation of calluses on the front of the foot
Placing a navicular bone support to prevent collapsed or extra depth arches
Internal and external bevelling
